Greetings all, i come with bloody news!.. >:D

Progress with The Crucible for UDK is going well, several things have been improved, and it's becoming more complete..

It comes with a little surprise now, one i think you will all love.. :romance-hearteyes:

And i've taken some time to put gore into the game, with the help of SB, who made the textures.. :twisted:

So now the Crucible will not have to be an outsider to the blood filled gore of BW.. :whistle:

Cool, I loved RPGing people in BW just to see the blood splatter. :) Plus, when a game is rated M, we deserve to have massive amounts of blood in it. Thank you for making the M rating mean something.

He he, glad you guys are happy, although it was not our emmediate priorty, it was high on the list, and how could we go making a more finished project without something so cool as this!..

I've spent the last 5 days or so on getting it in, the system had to be done from scratch, and we only had a bit of content for it..

SB approached me, and asked how hard it would be to get a gore system done, i had no idea as it's pretty much new to me, but i tried it out, and after some early test, i found it to be very easy.. So here we are. SB's provided me with some really nice materials, and some help in getting them working, and i've implemented them into my system(Which is quite neat), and got the game looking very messy..

I came up with the idea of dismemberable corpses, and it's working quite nicely, you can shoot off parts of their bodies, and each part has it's own independant health value..

With that said, this is no joke, it really is working, and quite nicely, and man what a mess!. A few Hydra rockets, some reapers, and a hammer, what do you get:

Drag marks, red covered walls, floors, ceilings, blood pools, spatters marks everywhere. Although the final product will have a little less huge patches of blood, there will still be lots, and i'm thinking of making the spatter size adjustable.. MUHAHAHAHA!..

I tell you, it's very fun making a mess of nearby surfaces, you almost want to keep your enemies alive as long as possible so they can cause more blood spatters...

YOU GUYS ARE KINGS!!!, Normal ut3 gore sucks not even bloody, you can do nothing just blow a guy up with a rocket thats all, I bet the crucible will spit in UT3 face with gore!!

OK. Just rounded off some dripping materials, which BE is getting implemented in now. With any luck (and skill), we'll have spatter decals with blood dripping down the wall, and particles of blood dripping from celing marks. I'm gonna go get the particles done now.

Still gotta whip up a stump or 2, and there are still a bunch of particles to do for everything else: Impacts, headshots, dismemberment, etc (lots of little pieces!). Also, we may have sounds for blood hitting surfaces :D And i might just go and create some juicy headshot sounds :P

We'll keep you guys posted ;)

Well DC's time is currently spent elsewhere, so no guns are planned. :(

This may not be the only release of Crucible UDK, we'll definetly see what we can do afterwards. At any rate, we'll try keep you up to date with what's going on, but we would like to show you before announcing something that may not happen ;) Like this gore. We could have said it without shots, but that makes it seem hollow :D

I would be surprised if it wasn't, with a fresh engine build you can as a developer do pretty much anything you desire as long as the engine allows it, and a powerful engine has a LOT of freedom.

This is the UDK, not UT3. It's just the engine and hardly any of the crap. Which means we have to make all the menus from scratch. We will have customisable controls of course, including reload. As i said however, no weapons or the like are likely to make it into this release :(
Gay login shit is gone thank god.. The engine is clean of that rubbish by default. There is however no Redeemer, so you'll have to use the Hydra or the Grenade :)

Skeleton Gore: The skeleton will dissmember and feature alternate effects to the other blood based chars. We are currently figuring out a method for gibs and such. I'm probably going to have to make some limb looking gibs, as well as some more exotic things, such as head and brain bits, various organs and guts, etc. >:D

BE is currently ironing out some of the inevitable issues that have arisen. Blood sacles strangely for those that scale, stumps are sometimes quite exagerated, and dismemberment does strange things :think:

Fear not though, because you as the player will never get to see these unfortunate mishaps that make development so much fun :D (i hope)

I intend on making up a short, gory vid as soon as we have it nearly done :)
